Bruce Cup

A Year 5 student at Hume Anglican Grammar’s Donnybrook campus is dedicated to making his dreams become a reality.

For the past three years, Gavy has been an integral part of Tennis Australia programs and his Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) places him in the top 10 players in the world born in 2014.

Recently, Gavy made waves at the Bruce Cup trials, where 46 boys vied for a coveted place on the team. Out of the 16 shortlisted players, only seven secured a position on the Bruce Cup Team, including Gavy. This accomplishment makes him the youngest player to represent Victoria.

Gavy is excited to travel to Darwin in August to compete in the national tournament. With Australian tennis legends such as Rod Laver, Ash Barty and Nick Kyrios beginning their representative careers in the same tournament, Gavy is honoured to have the opportunity to compete in the prestigious event with such a rich history. “I am dedicated to working hard every day and pursuing my dreams with the support of my community and well-wishers”, says Gavy.

Gavy’s dedication to tennis has been unwavering since he first picked up a racquet at the tender age of five. “My journey in tennis began when I was five years old, thanks to my dad’s introduction to the sport. Since then, I have been passionate about tennis and have dreamed about becoming a professional player.” With a rigorous training schedule five days a week, Gavy’s commitment to the sport has been remarkable, and we look forward to seeing just how far he may go.
