Italian Poetry Winner

During Term 1, Italian students from Years 9 to 11 had the opportunity to participate in the National Italian Education Awards Writing Competition.

The competition requires Year 9 students to craft a 500-word essay in Italian discussing the advantages and disadvantages of social media. Students in Years 10 and 11 were tasked with writing a 750-word essay reflecting on the effects of wars and how they can be eradicated from reality, leaving only their memory in history books.

In a remarkable display of talent, all our students produced impeccable essays. However, one Year 9 student, Shreya, offered a unique perspective that made her ideas shine. She not only identified the advantages and disadvantages of social media but also articulated her personal decision not to use it. This choice lent strength to her essay as she effectively highlighted the drawbacks of social media usage. Given that teenagers are particularly susceptible to the negative impacts of social media, Shreya’s mature approach to the topic provided her essay with a distinct and sophisticated flavour.

It is with great pleasure that we extend our congratulations to Shreya for achieving 2nd place in the competition.

Auguri Shreya!
