On Friday, 4 December and Tuesday, 8 December, we enjoyed Carols By Twilight. The event was very different to our usual gathering, with hundreds upon hundreds of students, teachers and parents in the CGA; Instead we met via Zoom while families enjoyed a picnic and sang along from the comfort of their own homes.

Highlights of the events included some beautiful solos by returning Year 12 singers Gihansa Samarawickrema and Hayley Stuart-Smith and excellent performances by the Primary Carols Dancers – Donnybrook and the Primary Carols Dancers – Mt Ridley.

While it obviously feels different (and perhaps a little disappointing) to not be meeting corporately in the same space, we are reminded each year at Christmas time through our Carols services that, ‘Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever’ [c.f. Hebrews 13:8] and that the message of the Incarnation each year is about God entering into our world and our homes through the good news of the birth of the Christ-child; Immanuel: God with us.
