NAPLAN, Founders’ Day and More
When we look up from our busy schedules to realise that we are almost half-way through Term 2, it comes as a bit of a shock. The term is rapidly progressing and so too are the experiences and events.
Tomorrow we celebrate our school’s 15th Birthday, also known as Founders’ Day. We have a special assembly, a talent show and all students and staff will be given a celebratory cupcake. We also announce our PFA Citizenship award recipient that goes to a student who exemplifies our school values and conducts themselves in a manner fitting of a student of Hume Anglican Grammar. I look forward to sharing a Founders’ Day reflection in my next newsletter edition.
In addition to the ‘normal’ teaching and learning experiences, we have Project Rockit onsite to run sessions on respect, acceptance, creative expression and leadership with our Year 4 - 6 students and our Year 2 students are learning the skills of AFL football with a specialist coach from the AFL, running skills sessions with our enthusiastic budding footballers.
Finally, I would like to thank and congratulate our Years 3 and 5 students for the wonderful way in which they have completed NAPLAN. We try to keep things as normal as possible for our students so as not to cause any unnecessary stress and anxiety and I hope this has been reflected in your child’s attitude to sitting these mandatory assessments. Whilst valuable, the results simply add a piece to our overall assessment schedule and help us to provide the necessary teaching and learning experiences to address any areas for development. Congratulations and well done to all!
We look forward to the busy and productive second half of term.
