Vihaan, a Year 3 student at Hume Anglican Grammar, has won first place in the Glasses of Tomorrow competition, held in conjunction of World Sight Day 2024. 

This international event attracted hundreds of entries from young innovators around the world, challenges students to design futuristic eyewear that addresses real-world challenges in vision care. Vihaan’s design, titled Specs of the Future impressed the judges with its innovative features, including sensors that can detect germs, built-in cameras, and even holographic vision. His creative and thoughtful prototype earned him top honours in this highly competitive field.

 The Glasses of Tomorrow competition serves as a platform for young students to explore STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - while addressing real-world problems. Vihaan’s prototype stood out not only for its cutting-edge technology but also for its potential to improve daily life for people with vision impairments. By integrating advanced sensors and holographic elements, Vihaan demonstrated a strong understanding of engineering principles and how technology can be applied to make a meaningful impact. His ability to think outside the box and create a design that combines both practicality and futuristic features is a remarkable achievement for a Year 3 student.

 Vihaan’s win is a significant recognition of his talent and creativity in the field of STEM.
