In this edition of Proud Parents, we are pleased to introduce you to Jessica La Ferlita, mother of Lucas in Year 4 and Christian who is in Prep at our Donnybrook campus.

Jessica, married to Anthony, has spent her entire life in the northern suburbs. After completing her schooling, she pursued a career in nursing. Jessica explored various avenues within the field and ultimately found her niche in medical centres. She enjoys the diversity and challenges of this environment, where every day brings something new, and she appreciates the excellent work-life balance it offers.

Why did you choose Hume Anglican Grammar for your sons?
We chose Hume Anglican Grammar for our children after finding that other local schools in the area did not meet our expectations. A colleague recommended Hume, as her daughter was attending and spoke highly of the school. When we attended the Open Day, we really connected with what the school had to offer.

What has been the fondest memory of your time here at our school?
We have many fond memories of Hume, from watching our sons come out of their shells with the help of the fantastic teachers, to seeing our eldest perform on stage in the Lion King Jr production. The smiles and excitement of the children during parent volunteering have also been unforgettable.

What do you value most about education?
We see education as the most valuable gift we can give our children, ensuring they can fulfill their dreams, whatever they may be. I believe a good education is a great start in life.

We note that you volunteer at the school – why do you think this is important?
I believe volunteering is important because it allows me to engage with the school community and build strong relationships with other parents and teachers. Additionally, the children get very excited when they see parent volunteers in the classroom and around the school.
