Nikki Nickel - Donnybrook

Term 4 started back last week with students returning to school excited to see their friends and eager to tell their teachers all about their holidays. The three-week break was a great opportunity to reconnect as a family, recharge our batteries and come back to school refreshed.

During our last Assembly, Donnybrook and Kalkallo students were entertained with Nikki Nickel, the superhero taking charge to assist with our environment. Did you know that each year in Australia, over 300 million household batteries are thrown away with ordinary waste?

The Donnybrook campus has battery recycling available in each classroom, so we can work together to help the environment by diverting as many batteries from landfill as possible. We have accepted the challenge to collect all used batteries from school, home and across our community, and will deposit them into a Big Battery Rescue recycling bucket. These buckets provide the tools for real action. So, let’s work together to collect all our used batteries to help our environment.
