ASA Conference 2024

Earlier this month, four student representatives from our Mt Ridley and Donnybrook Secondary campuses were selected to present at the Anglican Schools Australia Conference at Pullman on the Park.

Our students were invited to speak about their community service contributions to an audience of Principals and Church leaders from across Australia and overseas. This invitation was a wonderful recognition of the Community Crusaders program at the Mt Ridley Campus and the Wallaby Childcare Centre visits at Donnybrook.

The presentation was greatly received by the conference members, as our program was complimented and applauded by many attendees, including the Archbishop of Melbourne, for its work in the local community.

Below is presentation from two students that were selected to attend the conference.

Our school's community crusaders program has boomed in popularity this year, and we've been busy. Recently, Nathan and I had the opportunity to speak at the ASA, or Anglican Schools Australia Conference at the Pullman Hotel in East Melbourne and spoke about our program's achievements so far this year. Our speech was greatly received by the conference members, as our program was complimented and applauded by many attendees including the Archbishop of Melbourne, for its work in the local community. So, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the members of the community crusaders program sitting in here today, for all your hard work and dedication to making a great difference in our community.

To those who aren’t a member of the community crusaders, here’s what we’ve already been up to this term.

Community crusaders have been continuing our hard work. Our newest initiative has been running Jump Rope for Heart for the Mt Ridley Primary school students. So far, this activity has raised over $4000 for the Heart Foundation, all whilst helping to keep primary students active during winter.

We have continued with a range of making projects including snuffle mats for Second Chance Animal Rescue and draw string bags for Big Group Hug. We have also continued our regular volunteering visits to the Northpoint Centre, packing food parcels for the disadvantaged and Big Group Hug, supporting children in crisis.

We are also happy to announce that we hosted a bake sale and all profits will be going towards the cancer council daffodil day fundraiser.
