Virtual Reality Becomes a Reality for Donnybrook and Kalkallo students

50 students from Years 1 to Year 6 at the Donnybrook and Kalkallo campuses participated in an incursion where they were introduced to the world of Virtual Reality (VR). Students were provided with an opportunity to become three-dimensional digital artists and were encouraged to develop their creativity through exploring line, shape, texture, colour, space and form. Here is what some of our artists thought about the experience.

VR was a thrilling experience. It helped to connect with our inner emotions and feelings. Digital art is a way to sort pieces of art together to make your own masterpiece. The intellectual headsets were programmed with amazing apps and I felt quite proud of my finished nameplate masterpiece. - Diya, 4Y

When I was using the VR glasses, I used some different brushes. I used the brushes to draw a house. - Jasper, 1K

When we went to the VR incursion, we were all blown away by how amazing our art was. We were drawing with fire and electricity, and we could change where we made our masterpieces such as space, the snowy hills and a night sky. I felt like I could stay there forever but like all great things, it came to an end. We all loved it and wished we could do it again. - Jay, 6Y

VR was so cool. I could put snow on the screen, fire, a rainbow, shapes and paint. I felt so fantastic.  - Jackson, 2X

VR was an amazing experience. It was so good to be an artist. It was way better than scribbling away on paper. It had so many settings on it such as fire and a teleport. It felt great to move around whilst being an artist. - Aiden 3X

The VR headset incursion was an amazing experience. At first, I was scared but once I got into it, I was having so much fun. It was actually quite calming. I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of this opportunity. - Aanya 5Y
