Secondary Students Continue to Shine
In the most recent Secondary school Assembly, there was a great deal to celebrate. The Parents and Friends Association Citizenship Award was presented to Year 11 student Rijupriya Patel. Riju has been a great contributor throughout the year becoming a driving force behind our celebrations for International Women’s Day and volunteering her time to assist with the Primary production of The Lion King Jr. She encapsulates the values of the School and is also active in her local community.
In addition to this, we had updates in relation to all of the amazing events and achievements in the Performing and Visual Arts, Robotics Club and Galway Debating. It is wonderful that our students have so many opportunities to shine in areas outside of the classroom.
The Director of Teaching and Learning, Mr Kirk Thomas, was also interviewed by one of our School Captains. Students heard about his previous teaching experience, what his role entails and what he is working to improve at Hume.
We are heading into a very busy period of assessment and examinations in the Secondary school. Students have been provided with resources to assist with their revision along with tips about how to reduce stress and prepare for exams. On the home front parents can assist in this area by making sure students have a suitable study space, are well fed and rested, and also have some balance in their lives by ensuring they continue to enjoy activities such as sport and spending time with friends.
