We Are Thankful
Another week of Remote Teaching and Learning, another opportunity to demonstrate our strength of community! I found it appropriate last week to post a recorded video message of support and share it with our community via Facebook. It was only a simple gesture, but I hope it lifted the spirits of some. Talking about lifting spirits… On Tuesday of this week, the Primary school celebrated Father’s Day via Zoom with a collection of assembly items dedicated to our dads. A special thanks to Antonio Hellebuyck, father of Emilia (Prep), Alycia (Year 3), Gabriela (Year 5) and future enrolment, baby Lucy. We approached Antonio and asked if he would be happy to share a message about being a father with our community. Antonio jumped at the offer and provided an amazing reflection on fatherhood and being a father to 4 beautiful girls. On behalf of the community, I pass on our sincere thanks. It was deeply appreciated by all.
I would also like to thank our Primary school Captains, Shreya Sewgoolam and Joshua Costanzo, for their wonderful reflections about their dads and what they mean to them and for the beautiful photos they shared. Josh and Shreya have been outstanding leaders this year and have made significant contributions to the community. If you haven’t already, visit our Facebook page to watch our School Captains and Primary school Captains speaking with me and the Assistant Principal – Secondary, Kathryn Wilson. A wonderful example of student leadership!
With the term drawing to a close, on behalf of our students and parents, I wish to acknowledge the amazing efforts of our onsite supervisors. Our Teachers' Assistants and Learning Enhancement Assistants have tirelessly supported our students onsite from the very first day of Remote Teaching and Learning. This is an incredible effort, and despite the current situation, have remained upbeat and positive throughout this whole ordeal. Your support can not be underestimated, and we truly appreciate everything you have done to care for and support students. I would also like to mention the Primary staff and the work they have done to ensure that student learning has continued at such a high standard. An incredibly challenging task handled with professionalism, dedication and genuine concern for our students and families.
The success of Remote Teaching and Learning is indeed a wonderful example of partnership. The connection between home and school and the shared sense of responsibility shown by students, parents and teachers continues to flourish. For this, we are truly thankful.
