Board Matters
There is a particular group, all volunteers, consisting of people from many backgrounds who are charged with the stewardship of the School. The School is governed by a council, which we call a Board, consisting of Directors. This dedicated group set direction, oversee the school’s finances, develop building projects, provide strategic oversight, and secure the School’s future.
Our board has been eminently successful throughout the 14 years of our school’s life, which is largely due to the makeup of its membership. Foremost, it comprises expert, diligent and experienced governors who are most of all, passionate and dedicated to the success of the School.
As Business Manager of the School, I oversee and manage its finances and physical assets. I have also another role, one that also has a significant impact upon the welfare of the School, As the Company Secretary to the Board I look after all its administrative matters, and I would like share news of a long-serving member who will this year complete his third and final term as a Director on the Hume Anglican Grammar Board.
Reverend Robert Newton joined the Board on 22 November 2011, and over the past ten years has made a splendid contribution to the School. Throughout his time, he has served on the Property and Projects Committee and the Governance and Development Committee. This reflects his interest, versatility and ability to make a significant contribution to the effective governance of the School.
Robert’s extensive experience as an Anglican Minister, teacher and school Chaplain has been invaluable in contributing to Board deliberations. On behalf of the School, and the Board of Directors, I convey our thanks to Robert for his service. We will miss his candour, insightfulness and wonderful sense of humour.
We wish Robert all the best and know that he will not be far away. I am sure we will continue to see him, especially as his wife Jane, as one of our Mt Ridley Primary teachers, maintains that strong connection.
